Chris has spent the past 25 years building successful medical device companies. He has refined Bessel Origin through years of partnership with teams at Santa Clara University, Catholic University in Washington, D.C., and The University of Texas at El Paso.
Chris is an engineer, entrepreneur, and teacher. He studied design thinking and new product and process development while earning his PhD from Stanford University, has an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and is an award-winning social innovation teacher. He has partnered with leading universities around the country to advise students on making an impact at work.
Damian Rouson, PHD
Expert-in-Residence, Computing & Team Mentor
Damian is a noted expert in scientific computing and an experienced educator. He co-authored the textbook Scientific Software Design: The Object-Oriented Way (Cambridge University Press, 2011) and has been contracted to teach related courses at supercomputer centers and universities in the U.S. and Europe. He is the Founder and President of the Sourcery Institute, a California public-benefit nonprofit corporation engaged in research, education, and consulting in computational science, engineering and mathematics. Previously Damian was a Section Head at Naval Research Laboratories and a Technical Manager at Sandia National Laboratories. He holds a BSME from Howard University, and MS and PHD degrees from Stanford University in mechanical engineering.
Pete Siu, JD, MBA, M.Ed.
Pete is an organizational development advisor & leadership coach with a track record of helping leaders and their teams become more impactful, inspired, and inclusive. He draws on nearly two decades of experience managing and building teams, driving organizational change, and achieving results across a range of industries. His organizational development clients include the Center for Financial Inclusion, the World Bank, and CityBridge Education. His coaching practice—focused on issues relating to change management, people management, and professional growth—has helped leaders at organizations such as Microsoft, the Interpublic Group, the United Nations, and the Government of the District of Columbia. Pete holds a J.D. from the Northwestern University School of Law, an M.B.A. from the Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management, an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from the Broad Center for the Management of School Systems, and a B.S. in Urban Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Nandini Venkatesh, MBA
Expert-in-Residence, Marketing & Team Mentor
Nandini is a former Director of Product Management with almost 20 years of strategic marketing and product management experience in the medical device industry at companies such as Medtronic, Boston Scientific, and J&J. For the past decade, Nandini has served as a strategic and commercial marketing consultant to a range of medtech clients, from early-stage start-ups to Fortune 500 companies. She is a strong global commercial leader with a track record of identifying new markets, partnering with R&D on product innovation, and launching novel medical technologies to healthcare professionals and patients. Nandini holds a BS in Civil & Environmental Engineering from UC Berkeley and an MBA from Stanford University.
Ann is a staff engineer at Bessel LLC and graduated with a bachelor degree in mechanical engineering from the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. She has a passion for physics, mathematics, and computer aided design, and enhancing the world that we live in through application and design. She completed the Bessel Origin program while in school and has this to say, "Bessel Origin taught me about new industries, new kinds of jobs, and new parts of work that I didn’t know about before. It helped me get a broader view of the kinds of opportunities I could explore."
